Community Service

Throughout high school, community service has been a key part of my personal growth and character development. I’ve had the privilege of volunteering at my church, whether it was helping with picnics and events, altar serving, or providing support where needed. My involvement extended beyond the church through my work with Friends of the Poor and Holy Cross basketball activities, where I contributed to community outreach efforts. Additionally, by assisting those who cannot help themselves as a handyman, I developed a strong sense of responsibility and compassion. These experiences have instilled in me a deep commitment to serving others, which I plan to carry forward in all aspects of my life. I recently won the Bishops Youth Award, as a testament to my service in the church.

Church Picnic

Volunteering at my church’s picnic has been a rewarding experience that allowed me to give back to my community in a meaningful way. From setting up to assisting with activities, I enjoyed being part of an event that brings people together and fosters a sense of connection. This opportunity also taught me the value of teamwork and service, reinforcing my commitment to supporting those around me.

Altar Serving

Altar serving has been a meaningful way for me to actively participate in my church and deepen my faith. By assisting during services, I’ve gained a greater appreciation for the traditions and values of my community. This role has also taught me discipline, responsibility, and the importance of service, as I contribute to the spiritual experience of others. Being an altar server is both an honor and a privilege, and it has strengthened my commitment to serving my church and its members.

Friends of the Poor

Volunteering with Friends of the Poor, especially during the challenging times of COVID-19, was a humbling and impactful experience. I helped distribute food and essentials to those in need, witnessing firsthand the struggles many faced during the pandemic. This experience deepened my understanding of compassion and resilience, as I worked alongside others to support our community in a time of crisis. It reinforced my belief in the importance of helping those less fortunate and strengthened my commitment to serving others, even in the most difficult circumstances.

Handy Man for those who cannot help themselves

Acting as a handyman for people who cannot help themselves has been a deeply fulfilling experience. From watering flowers and creating gardens to offering a helping hand wherever it’s needed, I’ve had the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of those who require extra support. These small acts of kindness have taught me the importance of being there for others, especially when they are unable to manage on their own. This role has not only strengthened my sense of responsibility and empathy but has also shown me how meaningful it can be to offer assistance to those in need.

Holy Cross Basketball Activities

Volunteering at the Holy Cross basketball camp has allowed me to share my passion for basketball with younger players and help them develop their skills. Having played basketball myself, I understand the importance of teamwork, discipline, and dedication in the sport. It’s been incredibly rewarding to guide and mentor the kids, teaching them not only the fundamentals of basketball but also the values that come with it. Even though I no longer play, being involved in the camp has given me the chance to stay connected to the game while making a positive impact on the next generation of players.

Designing my Great Grandfathers book cover

Volunteering to design the cover for my great-grandfather’s book has been a deeply fulfilling experience. Utilizing Photoshop, I had the opportunity to blend creativity with family heritage, ensuring that the design reflected both the story and my great-grandfather’s legacy. This project allowed me to enhance my design skills while exploring themes that resonate with our family history. Collaborating with family members throughout the process was particularly rewarding, as I was able to honor his work and bring our shared vision to life. This experience has not only strengthened my appreciation for design but also deepened my connection to my family’s narrative.
